UPDATE: The all the items have been SOLD. Thanks
to Steve B., from the Cleveland area,
for buying my 8SE, JMI electric focuser, and
NexImage camera! Greetings: After a year and a half of using my Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope, I just bought
a Celestron CPC 800 Deluxe HD to get into some serious astrophotography. Therefore, I am selling my 8SE. The best
price I can find for a new NexStar 8SE telescope is
$1,199.
I will sell mine for just $699 (non-negotiable) in
order to expedite the deal - that's a $500 savings. It includes the stock Celestron E-lux 25 mm Plössl eyepiece
(or a Celestron 32 mm Plössl if preferred).
SOLD!
For
an additional $40 I'll include the NexImage camera (original 640x480 pixel version, $99 new). For an additional $75 I'll include
the JMI MotoFocus electric focuser ($180 new). You won't find this kind of a deal on a used 8SE on eBay or anywhere else for
this price.
SOLD! You can see photos of my telescope and some of the really nice
astrophotos made through it on this website.
I still have the original packaging from Celestron for the OTA. An estimate for shipping
is in the $75-$100 range with insurance, but I will get an exact number if you are interested. Local pickup or within
50 miles of Erie, Pennsylvania, has no delivery charge. It ships in 2 or 3 separate boxes
(mount/OTA and tripod). You can pay with a credit card via PayPal if desired. Please send me an e-mail if you are interested. I'll
be glad to answer any questions. The price is not negotiable.
Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope and tripod as received. The little bubble level that came with it was mounted
on a strip of metal and attached under one of the telescope attachment bolts (easily removed). |
45° diagonal and 25 mm eyepiece is original equipment.
I was surprised at how useful the LED finder "scope" worked. In some cases it is more useful than an actual
optical finder scope. |
I cannot see any scratches on the corrector lens. |
I put small marks in a couple places on the elevation axis support arm to assist with doing the polar
alignment while on the equatorial wedge. |
Somehow
I managed to put a scratch on the plastic hand controller display. I never noticed it until taking this
picture. |

Original equipment that came
with the NexStar 8SE:
Software for NexStar SE and NexRemote, Manual, TheSkyX First Light Edition software, misc. plastic covers. |
For sale separately (not included with telescope price): NexImage planetary camera. This is the first
model with a 640x480 pixel resolution. I used it to take some really good photos of the planets (see below)
through this NexStar 8SE telescope. $40 (firm) + shipping
(<$10 in the U.S.). SOLD! |
