Even during the busiest times of my life
I have endeavored to maintain some form of model building activity (many times consisting
of merely a dedicated monthly reading of modeling magazines). This site has been
created to help me chronicle my journey through a lifelong involvement in model
aviation. It all began
at Route 4 Box 504, Edgewater, Maryland (later changed to 114 River Road), and has
run through states from Florida to Colorado to Vermont, and many places in-between.
There is a lot of good information and there are lot
of pictures throughout the website that
you will probably find useful, and might even bring back some old memories from
your own younger days. My Model Airplanes website on EarthLink outgrew its capacity,
so I purchased the AirplanesAndRockets.com domain to continue the work. Thanks to
my enabler, Melanie (pictured above), and to
you for visiting.
The AirplanesAndRockets.com website began
life around 1996 as an EarthLink screen name of ModelAirplanes with web space totaling
2 MB. Its primary purpose was and still is to provide me with ready access to commonly
needed resources for pursuing my lifelong hobby. The Internet was still largely
an unknown entity at the time, and not much was available in the form of WYSIWYG
editors; in fact, my early pages were written using Notepad. After a couple years
of adding material to the website, I noticed that the hit counter would sometimes
record a hundred or more hits in a single day, which clued me in to the reality
that other people were finding my site useful. E-mails began arriving with suggestions,
corrections, and even a few compliments. As they say, the rest is history. As the
result of years of dedication to the nurturing of the website, it has grown to where
there are currently hundreds of visitors each day. My plan is to devote significantly
more effort to turn AirplanesAndRockets.com into a world-class portal for model
aircraft resources. Thanks for visiting!
The AirplanesAndRockets.com™ website and its business activity is part of the
sole proprietorship business of Kirt Blattenberger™ and reports income and expenses
to the IRS accordingly.
